The Divinity School of Chung Chi College (hereafter written as “we”) is deeply concerned with our student, LAM Shun Hin (BA, Theology Major, Year 1), who was nabbed by the Police in the morning of February 10 when he was going to depart at the airport for his family trip.
- According to the information we have in hand, LAM Shun Hin had stopped by and stayed in Mong Kok from 10pm on February 8 (Monday) to 2:15am on February 9 (Tuesday) but he has not committed any violent acts during his stay. Concerns and suspicions have been raised by the local community and students of our School that Lam Shun Hin has been blacklisted by the Police for his active participation in the previous social movements and thus he was being arrested unreasonably in spite of having insufficient evidence. We reiterate the Police Force must take resolute action but not abuse their power.
- We deplore the Police's action of escorting Lam Shun Hin to his home and allegedly searching his home without a warrant at around 1pm on February 10 (Wednesday), which would amount to be an abuse of power.
- We urge the Police to give us a comprehensive explanation for arresting our student, Lam Shun Hin. If there is insufficient evidence, we plead the Police to release him as soon as possible in order to uphold the principles of human rights and rule of law.
